At reopening of our restaurant after the enforced coronavirus shut down, due to the necessity of observing strict distancing and hygiene measures and the uncertainty of customer demand, we are offering a choice of three set price menus. A three-course menu (now just £34.00) and options of five or seven course tasting menus (now just £44.00 and £54.00 respectively), available at dinner, Friday and Saturday. There will be a vegetarian option for all three menus.
And, as of Thursday 24th September, the government has decreed that all restaurants and bars shall close at 10:00pm. This means that last orders in our restaurant are now 8:30pm if choosing from our three course menu and 7:30pm if you select either our five or seven course tasting menus. To assist us with smooth running of our kitchen we ask that you when you book your table you advise us then if you intend choosing one of the tasting menu options. Please remember that it is now mandatory for guests to wear a face covering when entering the building and to continue to do so until seated at their table.
Please note that in order to minimise the risk of late cancellations and 'no shows' at a time when the necessary coronavirus measures make the operational economics very fragile we shall require a non-refundable credit card deposit of £5.00 per diner for all bookings, irrespective of table size. Upon reserving your table you will receive an email, confirming your booking and requesting payment of your deposit. The email will contain a link enabling you to make a secure payment of your deposit. The deposit is transferable if we are notified 72 hours or more prior to the reservation.
In the bar there are always two local real ales on tap and 15 of the 40 wines stocked are available by the glass. James Duckett, the chef/proprietor, is a multi award winning chef who serves modern European and British cuisine, including some pub classics. His dishes represent the very best of fine pub dining and are recommended in the Good Food, Michelin, Harden's and AA Restaurant guides. Everything on his menus is prepared on the premises, from breads to ice creams, using fresh and, wherever possible, local produce. Whether you choose James’s seven course tasting menu, a light snack in the bar or just opt for a drink at the bar or by the log burner you’ll receive the warmest of welcomes.
